Welcome. You're in the right place.

Hi, I'm Kimmie Mathis.

If you landed here, I'm guessing you're exhausted. Maybe you've got mystery symptoms nobody can explain: hives, flushing, an upset gut, bad sleep, anxiety that comes out of nowhere. Maybe you're living on antihistamines and eating the same handful of safe foods.

And maybe your family and friends try to help. Did you change your detergent? Did you change your lotion? And it's like, that is not it.

I've been there. Nobody understands how hard this is until they're in it. So first, take a breath. You're not crazy, and you're not alone.

Two words you'll hear a lot here

HI (histamine intolerance).

Think of a bucket. Histamine comes in from food and from your own body. Enzymes, mainly one called DAO in your gut, help clear it out. When more comes in than your body can clear, the bucket overflows and you feel it. HI is a clearing problem.

MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome).

Think of an alarm that's too jumpy. Mast cells are part of your immune system. In MCAS they release histamine and many other chemicals too easily. Food, heat, stress, scents, or hormone shifts can set them off. MCAS is a release problem.

The two can overlap, but they are not the same thing. I don't diagnose. I teach.

How this site works

Western medicine first. I'll walk you through what Western medicine knows: what tests exist, what doctors usually look for, the common treatment options, and which questions to bring to your appointments. Doctors are the right place for emergencies and for ruling out serious conditions. The more you understand, the better you can advocate for yourself.

Then holistic care for the long haul. Once your diagnosis is in place, I'll expand more on the holistic approaches that helped me out and that I'm educated on: diet, nutrition, rest, calming the nervous system, traditional Chinese medicine, and living in the rhythms of nature. These work in conjunction and support your traditional medical care.

I see Western and holistic care like yin and yang. They're complementary, and together they make a full toolbox for helping people with immune issues like these.

This isn't all or nothing. If what you're doing now is working, keep doing it. This can sit right alongside it.

Everything here is online, so you can learn from wherever you are.
